Viral Marketing—The Kindle
Viral Marketing—The Kindle

Promote your E-book and create viral marketing. E-books tried to take off in the early 2000. Now with Amazon's Kindle publishing is changing. Steven King started the E-book push with THE PLANT. It never really took off like he planned, he did report making 463,000. Publishers are forecasting a rise in sales for E-books. Now is the time to write one and sell it.

The first step is the obvious. List your E-book on your website. Hyperlink you product to an online order form customers can fill out. PayPal account is a good source (paypal.com). Customers can pay with credit card online. Another source to hook up with is payloadz.com.

Exchange your link with other established authors. Look for authors through the internet search engine. Key in the kind of authors that write in the same genre. Contact with a simple request,"I'd like to put a link to your website on my website. Would you like to link to mine as well?" The more links you exchange, the more traffic your website will get.

  3. Step 3
    Get people talking.
    Get people talking.

Find online reading groups who might like your book. Go to bloomsbury.com/ReadersGroups where you can get more information. Finding others out there can lead to people talking about your book. Add a small announcement to all your e-mails. Including the title, a brief description, your name, a link to your website and the ISBN.

  4. Step 4
    Steady persistence.
    Steady persistence.

Write a press release. This can up the sales and interest in your E-book to 100%-300% in just a couple of months. Here are some sites you can create a press release, PR Web, PR, PR Leap, Click Press, or just search "free press release" on your search engine. You can also write for online publications. Find the newsletters, magazines, and newspapers for your targeted audience. To name some to look at, writersweekly.com, writefromhome.com. Be sure to write a brief bio that includes the name of your book.

  5. Step 5

Take out an ad on a website where your targeted audience is known to visit. Your banner ad would then hyperlink to your book's orderform.

Get your book listed on Amazon.com. It isn't free, but can get a lot of exposure.

on 5/4/2009 Great article. Amazon's now letting authors list for free now, but you only see 35% of the sale I think but you do get listed.
