Have you noticed the swimming pool slide finish is getting a little dull lately?
It's pretty easy to get it looking great again... Tricks of the trade from a former pool professional.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fiberglass polish or boat wax
  • polishing towels
  1. Step 1

The UV rays of the sun will damage anything made of plastic or fiberglass over time. The best way to restore the finish on your slide begins like this...

  2. Step 2

Clean your slide with some liquid algecide with a wet rag and the hose it off. Go easy on the algecide or you will have a foamy pool for a while.

  3. Step 3

Apply polish to your rag or hand towel and get started buffing the surface. Let the polish dry and then wipe it off with a clean rag. This is the same treatment used for maintaining fiberglass boats.
It's hard work...so once you get done try putting a coat of wax on the surface every couple of months to keep up with it.

Tips & Warnings
  • use a wet rag to polish...it's easier.
  • You can use a car polisher/buffer also if you have experience.
  • WAIT UNTIL THE SUN STARTS TO GO DOWN OR YOU WILL BAKE THE POLISH ON THE SURFACE AND MAKE A MESS!
  • IF YOU USE AN ELECTRIC BUFFER TIE THE CORD OFF SO THAT THE BUFFER CAN'T POSSIBLY TOUCH OR REACH THE WATER WHILE PLUGGED IN.
  • YOU COULD GET ELECTROCUTED!
  • BE SURE TO PLUG IN ONLY TO A GFI OUTLET
  • BE VERY CAREFUL AND VERY CERTAIN THAT YOU DO NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE POOL WATER.
  • I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING A BUFFER FOR MOST PEOPLE! ...TOO DANGEROUS!
