How to Become a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA Wireless)

Cisco network certifications are some of the most sought after IT (Information Technology) certifications. There are four levels of Cisco certifications (Entry, Associate, Professional, and Expert) to enhance your professional credentials. Specialist certifications are also offered to verify focused knowledge in many topics.

According to Cisco, "CCNA Wireless recognizes the critical importance of professionals supporting wireless LANS including Networking Associates/Administrators, Wireless Support Specialists and WLAN project managers. The CCNA Wireless Certification validates candidate’s skills in the configuration, implementation and support of wireless LANs, specifically those networks using Cisco equipment. Students completing the recommended Cisco training are provided with information and practice activities to prepare them for, configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting basic tasks of a Cisco WLAN in SMB and Enterprise networks. Employers will be able to validate their staff have the skills needed for basic wireless networking on a Cisco WLAN in SMB and enterprise networks after completing certification."

Instructions

1. PREREQUISITES - The prerequisite for the CCNA Wireless certification is a valid CCNA.

2. TRAINING - Cisco recommends the course Implementing Cisco Unified Wireless Networking Essentials (IUWNE) for assistance in passing this certification exam. This course is available through many learning partners in physical classroom, virtual classroom, and web based classes.

3. ADDITIONAL TRAINING AND REVIEW - Additional training and practice questions are available at the Additional Resources Links #1 & #2 [below].

4. CERTIFICATION EXAM(S) - Once you are ready to take your exam you can register through the Additional Resources Link #3 [below]. You will need to take exam number 640-721 (lasting 90 minutes, with 60 questions).

5. RECERTIFICATION - CCNA Wireless certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, pass a CCNA Concentration exam (wireless, security, voice), or pass any 642 – XXX professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE or CCDE written exam.
