This simple cookie is a big hit in our family. Instead of messing around with melting chocolate, we use Nutella spread to make these thumbprint cookies. Nutella can be found in your grocery store and is a chocolate and hazelnut spread that is delicious!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • For 12 dozen thumbprint cookies:
  • 1 jar of Nutella
  • 1 c. salted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 c. all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. of baking powder

You are now ready to form the cookies! Take a small amount of cookie dough and roll it into a ball. It should be the diameter slightly bigger than that of a quarter. Place ball of dough onto a cookie sheet and with your thumb, press down in the middle of the cookie to form an indent. Next, add a small teaspoon of nutella spread into the indent and the cookie is complete. Repeat the process until you fill the tray. I recommend doing all of the cookie forming first and then adding the spread to all of them at once. Its more efficient. Bake for 7 minutes or until edges of cookies slightly brown. Cool and store in an airtight container.
