Things You'll Need:
- For 12 dozen thumbprint cookies:
- 1 jar of Nutella
- 1 c. salted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 c. all purpose flour
- 2 tsp. of baking powder
-
Step 1
Preheat ovenPreheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets and set aside.
-
Step 2
Combine wet ingredientsNext, in a large mixing bowl, combine salted butter and sugar until creamy. Then add egg and vanilla and whip until smooth.
-
Step 3
Dry IngredientsCombine flour and baking powder together first and then slowly add these dry ingredients to the butter mixture until thoroughly combined.
-
Step 4
Bake and cool thumbprint cookiesYou are now ready to form the cookies! Take a small amount of cookie dough and roll it into a ball. It should be the diameter slightly bigger than that of a quarter. Place ball of dough onto a cookie sheet and with your thumb, press down in the middle of the cookie to form an indent. Next, add a small teaspoon of nutella spread into the indent and the cookie is complete. Repeat the process until you fill the tray. I recommend doing all of the cookie forming first and then adding the spread to all of them at once. Its more efficient. Bake for 7 minutes or until edges of cookies slightly brown. Cool and store in an airtight container.
