Make Reindeer Feed
Make Reindeer Feed

On Christmas Eve, Santa isn't the only one who should be left a treat. My children have been making reindeer feed for Santa's flying friends for years, and we hope it will become a tradition in your home too. This year, leave a special treat for Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer and all Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • FOR EACH CHILD PROVIDE:
  • 1 Plastic Zip-loc Bag
  • 1 packet instant oatmeal
  • Handful of raisins
  • 2 TBSP. colored sprinkles
  1. Step 1

For EACH child, label a zip-loc bag with the words "REINDEER FEED" with a permanent marker. You can put your child's name on the other side of the bag.

  2. Step 2

Into the zip-loc bag(s), carefully pour the instant oatmeal, raisins, and colored sprinkles. If you don't have sprinkles, substitute colored sugar crystals(the kind used for cookie baking).

  3. Step 3

Zip close the bag(s), and give it several shakes to evenly distribute the ingredients--kids love this part! Put the bag in a safe place till Christmas Eve.

  4. Step 4

On Christmas Eve, when setting out cookies and milk for Santa, get your bag of reindeer feed. Take the reindeer feed outdoors and sprinkle it on your lawn--don't worry, those reindeer will find it!

Tips & Warnings
  • This is a fun & easy craft that kids can handle with very little help.
  • If you don't have raisins, add any dried berries or even sunflower seeds--reindeer are not too picky.
