Instructions

First if you see the leaves getting shrivelled or if the lower leaves are falling off, your plant needs a little more water. These plants are native to Brazil and so they like the warmer climate. Never over- water or under-water your plant. Since they are not the easiest plant to maintain, hopefully you got one with flowers on it.

To grow them to perfection, these plants need to be planted good well drained tropical soil. They like warm showers every once in a while.
Still, never give them direct sunlight, it burns their leaves and can change their color. They like indirect sunlight. Mine is near the window but in the home.
Put some pebbles or marbles under the pot(which has a hole)so that while they are damp they can provide some humidity to your plants.
If the flower is wilting, the spike needs to be taken off and the plant must be moved to a warm and bright location. In the summer, they can be moved to where there is shade. If you give them good fertilization and care, they should bloom again come fall.

For spider mite control, just wash off your plant and make sure all the little webs are gone.
