Things You'll Need:
- About $15 to $35, depending on your budget
- Access to information on possible virtual pets
-
Step 1
Know what you are looking for before you go out and make a purchase. What kind of virtual pet are you wanting to purchase for yourself or the person you are looking for? There are a wide range of options today, from beeping electronic on keychains to online pets like Neopets or Adoptme.com.
-
Step 2
Decide what kind of animal you are looking at. Again, consider the receiver. Would they be interested in the realistic and cute feel of Nintendogs as opposed to the mass appeal of Pixel Chix? Would they prefer aquatic animals like AquaPalz or fantasy animals like Tamagotchi's?
-
Step 3
Some games would appeal to different people in their interactivity with the pet. Tamagotchi's are a popular choice, but require more play and interaction on the user's part, considering the adorable characters now have careers, school, and a constantly updating in-game store. A pet like one of the virtual Littlest Pet Shop pets, however, cannot die and therefore is not as stressful on your time. Usually, simpler, less difficult games are more ideal for younger generations.
-
Step 4
Consider the player's lifestyle. Often, the deciding choice on a game will be based on the limitations. Some games, like Virtual Littlest Pet shop toys cannot be muted, others, like AquaPalz cannot be paused. Do you really want to have to constantly set the clock to sleep time because you can't pause gameplay? Do you really want to have to access the internet to play Neopets? Lifestyle is more important of a factor than you may think!
