Insert an images into Microsoft Office Word 2007

This article is one of a series I will be writing on using Microsoft Office Word 2007. In this particular article I will be explaining how to insert an image into your word document.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step is to decide on the location you would like to insert the file. Once you have decided on the location, place your cursor at that point and single left click. You will notice a flashing cursor symbol at the point where you selected.

  2. Step 2

The second step is to select the “insert” tab at the top of the screen. The tab is located in the top left hand corner of the screen (see image.)

  3. Step 3

Once this tab displays you will notice a number of different options, For the purposes of this article we are only interested in the option “Picture.”

  4. Step 4

Selecting this option will bring up a file location box that will ask you to select the image you would like to insert. At this point you will need to navigate to the location path of the file you wish to insert, single left click with your mouse on the file in question and select the “insert” button in the window.

  5. Step 5

You will notice now that the image tries to display exactly where you have placed your cursor and it will move any text that may be in the way. This can cause issues with the look of your document as images may display larger than you wish or may move large blocks of text that you do not wish moved.
Single left clicking with your mouse on the document will bring up the formatting tab at the top of Word, this will allow you to edit the image in a number of ways. I will shortly be writing another article on exactly how to use these options, however in the interim simply playing around with them should lead you to exactly how you want to format the image. And remember if you do make a mistake you can always hit the “undo” button in the top left corner of the screen (Blue arrow button next to the image of a floppy disk.)
