Getting tickets to attend a live taping of Saturday Night Live is notoriously difficult. Instructions

1. Enter the Saturday Night Live ticket lottery. In the month of August of any given year, you can enter the ticket lottery for a chance to win tickets to live tapings of Saturday Night Live for that upcoming season. To enter the lottery, send an email to [e-mail]. Emails must be sent between August 1, and August 31. Early and late emails are not accepted.

2. When sending an email to enter the lottery, include all of your contact information. You cannot request tickets for any specific date or guest host. If your name is drawn in lottery, you will receive two tickets to attend a live taping of a random Saturday Night Live show.

3. Only one person per household may request tickets, and all attendees must be at least 16 years old. Be prepared to show ID when arriving at the studios.

4. Get standby tickets. Standby tickets for Saturday night live are issued at 7:00am on the morning of the taping. To get standby tickets, you must arrive no later than 7:00 am, on the 49th Street side of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. There is a limit of one standby ticket per person, so if you'll want to attend with someone, they'll have to wait in line with you. Unlike the ticket lottery, With standby tickets, you can request tickets for either the 8:00pm dress rehearsal or the 11:30pm live taping.

5. If you get tickets for the Saturday Night Live dress rehearsal, arrive no later than 7:15. If you get tickets for the live taping, you must arrive no later than 10:45.

• Having a standby ticket does not guarantee admission, but you should arrive to the taping early just in case there are standby spots available in the audience.
