Step 1
Repairing Scratched CDs and DVDs method 1 - Toothpaste:
Using a plain old white toothpaste and a non-abrasive cloth (i.e. microfiber) rub toothpaste into the scratch. Some scratched disc's can handle a circular motion but a straight motion starting from the center of the CDs or DVDs (hole) and working straight out to the outer edge is recommended as circular can cause a scratched disc to become scratched even further. Repeat as necessary. (Other steps below can be used after this method if needed) -
Step 2
Repairing Scratched CDs and DVDs method 2 - Polishes:
To fix scratched CD's add a small dab of either Brasso metal polish or 3M to the damaged area of the CDs or DVDs and polish lightly with a non abrasive cloth. Working from the center of the disc in a straight line towards the outer edge. Gently wipe away any excess. -
Step 3
Repairing Scratched CDs and DVD's method 3 - Wax:
Using a small amount of wax, such as Turtle wax or Carnauba wax, on a non abrasive cloth rub wax lightly over damaged areas of the CDs or DVDs. Remove any extra wax with cloth.
