Origami, the art of folding paper to create different shapes, is a project appropriate for children of all ages. One project is creating a sports car from origami paper. This car is simple enough for a beginner to make. However, as the project is customizable, it would be fun even for an advanced origami artist.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Origami paper
  1. Step 1

Lay the origami paper, white side up, flat on a table.

  2. Step 2

Fold the square of paper in half horizontally, situating it so that the fold is across the top of the paper.

  3. Step 3

Fold the top two corners in at an angle. These folds will create the shape of the body of the car. If the car needs to be boxy, make the folds symmetrical. If the car is to be sleek or sporty, make the right fold longer than the left fold.

  4. Step 4

Unfold the corners. Then, fold them into the car's body. The points, which now will poke out through the bottom of the car's body when it's finished, will be the wheels.

  5. Step 5

Fold the bottom edge of the paper up to meet the top edge. Turn the paper over and do the same thing on the other side.

  6. Step 6

Fold the top flap of the paper back down to meet its opposite edge. Flip the paper over and do the same thing on the other side.

  7. Step 7

Tuck in the top, right-hand corners of the hood of the car to create the headlights. Fold over the top, left-hand corners of the back of the car to shape and streamline the body.
