Make Parmesan Cheese Biscuits

Parmesan Cheese Biscuits -- a pleasant spin on your average, beloved, homemade biscuits.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Parmesan (grated)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 stick [1/2 cup] chilled butter (cut into 1/2 inch cubes)
  • 1 cup milk
  1. Step 1

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Sprinkle large baking sheet with flour.

  2. Step 2

    2. Combine flour, 3/4 cup of cheese, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper in large bowl. Mix well.

  3. Step 3

    3. Add butter to the dry ingredients and rub it in with your fingers until a coarse meal forms.

  4. Step 4

    4. Gradually add the milk, tossing the dough with a fork until moist clumps form. Add more milk (by tablespoons) if the mixture is dry.

  5. Step 5

    5. Gather the dough into ball. Press it out on a lightly floured work surface to an 8-inch round, about 1 inch thick. Cut it into 2-inch-diameter biscuits.

  6. Step 6

    6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup cheese over the biscuits.

  7. Step 7

    7. Bake the biscuits until they are puffed and light golden, about 15 minutes.

  8. Step 8

    8. After baking, leave them to cool on a cooling rack, and then enjoy! This recipe should yield about 12 biscuits.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may also choose to replace the milk with buttermilk. To convert your milk, just add 2 tablespoons of vinegar per cup of milk and allow it to sit for about five minutes at room temperature. You will notice a slight change in the milk's appearance; this is buttermilk.
