Get Urine and Pet Odors out of Carpet using Baking Soda

Pet urine and odors are not only embarrassing to live with, but sometimes difficult to get rid of as well. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on products that do not work why not try out products that many already have in the home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    How to remove urine and pet odor from carpets using Baking Soda: To begin get together your products: hard bristled scrub brush; baking soda; towel or paper towels; bowl of clean water.

  2. Step 2

    Pour generous amount of baking soda over stained area or affected area.

  3. Step 3

    Wet your scrub brush and begin scrubbing from the outside of the area towards the center.

  4. Step 4

    Repeatedly cleaning off your brush with clean water during scrubbing. Change out water if necessary.

  5. Step 5

    Blot area with towels and repeat scrubbing as necessary until the towels show little to know discoloration after blotting.

  6. Step 6

    Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda over the spot and let sit until dry. Once dry, vacuum area to remove extra baking soda. This should work in removing pet urine and pet odor from your carpet.

Tips & Warnings
  • With urine be sure to always soak up as much as possible before attempting to scrub the spot.
  • Do not saturate your carpet too much- you want wet but not puddling.

on 6/9/2009 im doing this right now, i have been repeating it....now does the blacklight stain eventually go away....mine has faded pretty dramatically...if it doesnt disappear...does that mean the smell will come back in a few days???
