How to get a salon style blow out at home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wide tooth comb
  • Brush
  • Round brush (Smaller for short length and larger barrel for long lenghts)
  • Clip
  • Root lifter
  • Volume polish or serum
  • Finishing polish
  1. Step 1

Shampoo and Condition hair. Towel dry. Allow hair to air dry for approximately 10-15 minutes. Ideal hair for blow out is 60% wet.

  2. Step 2

Comb hair with wide tooth comb. Apply a volumizer (for limp hair) all over hair - root to tips. I recommend Sebastian Thickefy Foam or Kerestase Volume Active. For normal hair or dry hair apply a nourishing treatment mousse or spray all over hair. I recommend Sebastian Potion 9 Lite or Kerestase Lait Nutri Sculpt. Comb through once more. Flip hair over as well, and comb underside.

  3. Step 3

Apply a rootlifter to crown of head. Also be sure to spray areas on the back crown of head as well or any other place desired for additional lift and body. I recommend Matrix's Amplify Root Lifter. Comb through hair one additional time.

  4. Step 4

Blow dry hair with head facing down, until hair is 70% dry. Place head upright and clip all hair up except for 1/4 of the bottom section (near neck). Take circle brush and blow dry section. Lifting hair up while drying(opposite direction of hair growth). Continue until section is dry and bring down another section of hair until complete. As you get to the top layers you may want to curl the ends under and hold with brush and focus blow dry on ends to set a curl.

  5. Step 5

After complete, brush hair and apply a few drops of a shine or anti-frizz serum to ends of hair. I recommend John Freida products or Kerestase Serum Nutri-Sculpt.
