Chicken Kiev is a traditional Ukrainian dish which is made of a chicken breast wrapped around a slab of seasoned butter, which is breaded and deep fried. The seasoned butter inside of the chicken melts and acts as a sauce for the chicken. It is a delicious meal and is pretty simple to make. This recipe makes 4 servings.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • Butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • Flour
  • Dry bread crumbs
  1. Step 1

    Remove the bone and skin from the chicken breast. Cut them in halves and pound them with a meat tenderizer. Form the chicken into rolls.

  2. Step 2

    Put the chives, parsley, salt and pepper on a sheet of wax paper. Roll the stick of butter into the mixture and cut it into 8 pieces.

  3. Step 3

    Place a piece of the butter in the center of each piece of chicken. Roll the chicken so that the butter in completely sealed off and secure it with a wooden toothpick.

  4. Step 4

    Briefly roll the chicken into flour and brush with a beaten egg. Then roll the chicken into bread crumbs.

  5. Step 5

    Heat oil in deep fryer to 360 degrees. Fry the chicken until it is golden brown and drain excess oil on a paper towel. Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also add a little bit of minced garlic to the butter if you please.
