How to Transfer Ipod Music From Mac to PC

You can transfer your iPod music from one computer to another.

Just about everyone has an iPod or some sort of MP3 player, along with copies of their song libraries stored on their computers. But what happens to the music when someone decides to replace his Mac with a PC? Obviously, you don't want to download thousands of songs one by one, but there is an easier way using a portable USB storage device.

Things You'll Need

• iTunes program
• iPod or MP3 player
• 1-gigabyte mass storage device or "thumb drive"

Instructions

1. Insert the thumb drive into the Mac and wait for it to be recognized.

2. Click on the "Finder face" on the Mac to locate the music file folder.

3. Click on the music note to open and select the iTunes folder.

4. Click open this folder to see the folders inside. You are looking for the "iTunes Music" folder

5. Copy and paste this folder to the thumb drive. This may take some time to download depending on how large your file is.

6. Click open the "iTunes Music" folder and select a specific artist if you want to transfer only the file of a single artist to the PC.

7. Copy and paste this file to the thumb drive. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of the file.

8. Eject the thumb drive from the Mac and insert it into the PC.

9. Open the iTunes program on the PC and select the "File" button on the top right of the screen. Selecting this will produce a drop-down menu. Select the option of "Add folder to library." You should now see a pop-up box titled "Browse for folder." Check to see that your thumb drive is recognized and select it.

10. Select either the iTunes music library or the artist file that you transferred from the Mac and click "OK." The file will automatically upload to your iTunes library.

Tips & Warnings

• You must register your PC to play the songs you've purchased through iTunes using the Mac.

• Be sure to back up your songs so that if you need to perform the procedure again, you won't lose any valuable information.
