Lines of Cocaine
Lines of Cocaine

When it comes to drug addiction, ignorance is not bliss. You may feel that cocaine is something that only affects people from certain neighborhoods. If you think it's limited to the folks on the TV news program and that there's no reason for you to know what cocaine looks like, think again. Cocaine abuse and addiction is not limited to certain neighborhoods. It could be occurring in your own home. Here are a few ways to identify cocaine.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for tell tale signs. Cocaine users have little rituals that they generally engage in, prior to consuming the drug. Cocaine is generally inhaled through the nose (snorted) and thus it must be prepared in a fashion to make it easy for the drug user to snort it. Keep an eye out for razor blades, cut off straws and smooth surfaces on which the cocaine user cuts, and arranges the powder in lines for sniffing.

  2. Step 2

Become suspicious if you notice small vials, small packets, small pieces of folded paper or dollar bills with a white powdery substance. Finding a white powdery substance doesn't always raise suspicion, as it could be sugar, salt or other perfectly common household spice. However, if the white powder is not kept in the sugar bowl or saltshaker, and is instead transported around in small vials or folded paper, there is reason to suspect cocaine abuse. Cocaine's granularity is more similar to confectionary sugar than table salt.

  3. Step 3

Taste the substance. Take a small amount of the substance and place it on your tongue. If it tastes bitter and your tongue becomes numb, than it's a good chance that it is cocaine.
