How to Make Gift Jars of Brownie Mix
If you are looking for an inexpensive but personal gift to give your co-workers and neighbors for the holidays, try a homemade brownie mix in a jar. This gift will help you save money, and those you give it to will be able to make homemade brownies to celebrate the season.
Things You'll Need
- Mason jars
- Cotton balls
- Fabric
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder

Layer the ingredients into a 1-quart mason jar. Layer the white ingredients on the bottom and gradually get darker, ending with the cocoa powder on the top.

Cover the Mason jar lid with cotton balls and then cover the cotton with a small piece of fabric of your choice. Put the ring on the material and screw it onto the jar.

Type out the ingredients and instructions for the brownies on a festive card. It should say:
¾ cup butter
3 eggs
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 jar brownie mix1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 13-by-9-inch pan.
2. Beat butter in bowl until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add brownie mix to butter mixture and stir until mixed well.
3. Spread batter evenly in the pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until done. Do not over bake the brownies. This recipe makes 2 dozen brownies.

Tips & Warnings
Add a wide ribbon to the ring of the jar with hot glue, if desired.
Get your kids involved and they can give gifts that they have made themselves to teachers at school and church, as well as to some of their friends’ parents.
