Instructions

    • 1

Purchase the fleece. You can find fleece at your local craft store or Wal-Mart. Pick whichever color or print you want your scarf to be and buy 1 ¾-yards of fleece. This is one fabric that doesn't need prewashing and doesn't unravel, so there isn't any need to finish the edges. Jersey is another material that can be made into a no-sew scarf because it also doesn't need finished edges.

    • 2

Measure the material. Measure out the fleece at 12-inches wide and 60-inches long. You can change the measurements if you want a scarf that is longer or wider or not as much. If you are making the scarf for a child then divide the measurements in half.

    • 3

Fold the fleece in half. Try to get the bottom edges as even as possible. You can either mark the measurements on the material and cut with a pair of sharp scissors or you can use a ruler and a rotary cutter to cut the material. Make sure to use a rubber mat or a flat surface that you don't mind making cuts on if you use a rotary cutter.

    • 4

Cut the fringe. Use a fabric pen and a ruler and mark lines for the fringe at ¼-inch apart. The fringe can be as long or as short as you want it. If you don't want to mark on the fleece then just start cutting the fringe freehand.

    • 5

Knot the fringe. To finish up the no-sew scarf take one of the fringes and tie a knot at the top of the fringe. Another way to finish the fringe would be to make several knots on one fringe. If you want more decorations on the scarf then you could also add some beads to the fringe. Do the same to the rest of the fringe or just leave them bare with no knots.
