Purchase one or more toys to drop off at a Toys for Tots drop-off location. You do not need to purchase an expensive toy to help put a smile on a child's face. If you have children, explain to him that you have purchased the toy(s) to bring joy to a less fortunate child.

Participate in Christmas gift giving programs for children. Most churches have a list of children in need. Take part in the programs offered at your church. If you are not a member of a church, contact a church to learn how you can participate.

    • 3

Help a child in your own family. Buy extra gifts for the children of family members who are experiencing financial hardships.

    • 4

Reach out to a child in your community. Give a helping hand to a struggling family by buying food for a holiday meal. Also, ask neighbors or friends to help you gather enough money for presents for the children to enjoy.

    • 5

Talk to local businesses in your area to sponsor a local family with children. This can be a joint effort with other members of your family, coworkers or friends. Try to find businesses that are willing to donate money or the products needed. Work to ensure that the family can have a Christmas tree, decorations, presents and a Christmas meal.
