Things You'll Need:
- a desire to learn this difficult martial art
-
Step 1
Search the internet for judo clubs in your area. When you find one do a search on the club and the instructors for information. Not all clubs are equal. Ask a judo friend if you have one, although they will probably recommend their own school and may not really know of other schools.
-
Step 2
Watch a Judo tournament and find out what schools the most impressive athletes are from. Visit the school and watch a practice, is the class run well? Does the instructor appear to be a good teacher? Does the class seem organized?
-
Step 3
Be careful not to sign long term agreements with your first club, ask for a trial period. You may discover you don’t like the club or that the sensei is not to your liking. In that case you are still stuck for the payments of your agreement. Don’t let this influence you to quit the sport. Becoming proficient at this martial art is fulfilling and rewarding.
