Rollersetting your own hair can be challenging and frustrating for a lot of women. It doesn't have to be. With the right technique and practice it can be done flawlessly.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Magnetic rollers
  • duckbill clips
  • setting lotion
  • spray bottle
  • rat tail comb
  1. Step 1

    Wash and condition your hair first. Hair must be clean before attempting to rollerset.

  2. Step 2

    Apply a liquid leave-in conditioner and a small amount of setting lotion.

  3. Step 3

    Part the hair in 3 sections. Left, middle and right. Pin the right side and left side away with the duckbill clips. Start with the middle section first. Part a 1/2 inch to 1 inch section to be rolled.

  4. Step 4

    Hold the section to be rolled straight up and as taunt as possible. Place the roller on end of hair and roll down toward scalp, while pulling slightly to create tension as you roll.

  5. Step 5

    Once the section of hair is completely rolled secure the roller in place at the base of your head. This will ensure that the roller does not move or slide.

  6. Step 6

    Continue parting and rolling each section of your hair until it is completely rolled all over.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your hair wet by spraying it with water periodically throughout the process.
  • If the rollers don't feel secure, reposition the clip.
  • Be careful when removing the clips, so you will not snag your hair.
