Stromboli is a sandwich all put together and baked in the oven. This recipe is easy but very good. Makes enough for a large family or for leftovers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 loaves frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1/4 pound salami
  • 1/4 pound cooked ham
  • 1 pkg pepperoni sliced
  • 1 pkg sliced mozzarella
  • medium onion sliced
  • 1 large green pepper sliced
  • 1 pound jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 egg white lightly beaten
  1. Step 1

    Thaw loaves of bread and place on a cookie sheets so dough forms a rectangle. Seam the two loaves together and work with fingers to remove the seam and fill the pan.

    In the center of the dough, spread the first layer of sauce lightly. Add a small layer of salami topped with a layer of ham, then pepperoni, then mozzarella, onion and green peppers. Add another layer of sauce lightly and continue layering as many times as the ingredients allow.

    Bring long sides together left over right. Secure with toothpicks. Bring up ends and secure with toothpicks. Brush top with egg white.

  4. Step 4

    Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. Top should be nicely browned. Remove toothpicks and slice to serve. Heat up remaining sauce and pour over slices to serve. You may also choose to give each diner a small bowl of sauce for dipping.

Tips & Warnings
  • Count the number of toothpicks you use to make sure you remove them all.
  • Be sure to use only a small amount of sauce inside the stromboli or it will become soggy and will also run out during cooking.
