Things You'll Need:
- stocking
- candy
- small toys
- small trinkets or items of your choice
-
Step 1
Choose stockings that you feel is right for the person. Most people prefer that their stockings match in order to go along with a theme they've set up, but I feel that a stocking should be a reflection of the person!
-
Step 2
Think about what the person like and try adding small trinkets or accessories that reflect that. If you can't think of anything then don't worry, move on to the next step.
-
Step 3
Every year my mom always bought us a new scarf and glove set. If you live in a cold climate, gloves are a perfect addition to the stocking.
-
Step 4
Try adding little toys or coloring books for younger children. Stear clear of stuffed animals unless the stocking is for a toddler or infant. try other little toys like cars and trucks for boys, and maybe a little purse or play make-up for a girl.
-
Step 5
For some reason my mom always liked to add a little notepad or journal in the stocking, but I loved them. Try picking a journal or diary that the person can use for the new year! Don't forget a set of pens or pencils to finish it off.
-
Step 6
And of course, always add a little candy or some sort of treat for the recipient. A candy cane it a traditional topper.
-
Step 7
Once you've picked all the items that you'd like to add, pick a few items that you would like to showcase that will stick out of the top.
-
Step 8
To stuff the stocking, add larger objects near the toe where there is more room for them, then top them with smaller objects. Place your selected items in the very top in a way that they are slightly hanging over the edges to give the stocking some character. Place the candy cane along the edge for extra flavor.
