How to stay on your normal eating pattern during the Holidays.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

It is common knowledge, that most of us tend to over eat a bit during the holiday season. Of course, as long as it is something we don't do all of the time it is deemed acceptable. In reality, there is no reason you have to over eat. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the big holidays when many of us are tempted with rich foods including sweet Christmas Cakes & Cookies.

  2. Step 2

On Thanksgiving Day, one way to handle all of the temptation and over indulging is to only eat one meal that day. Most people can go all day without eating, make this your one day out of the year. If you eat any Appetizers prior to the main Thanksgiving Dinner, then plan on cutting down some of your portions when the main meal is finally served. For example, if you ate some Crackers and Cheese prior to Dinner, then cut down on the Cranberry Sauce and eat only a tiny amount of the Mashed Potatoes.

  3. Step 3

If you have your heart set on eating dessert, then you may want to consider eliminating the Gravy from your Turkey and Potatoes. This will reduce calories from the main meal, allowing those sweet desserts to be sampled on this holiday. It is much easier than most people think to eat sensibly on special holidays. Remember, your stomach is about the size of your fist, it can only hold so much food, Thanksgiving and Christmas are no different. Always remember, "You eat to Live" not "Live to Eat". Happy Holidays!
