Resize an Image in Paint Shop Pro (PSP) 7

If you have an image that's too big, or even too small, learn how to use Paint Shop Pro's Resize tool to make it the right size.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer running Paint Shop Pro (PSP) 7
  1. Step 1

After opening Paint Shop Pro and the image you want to resize, look to the menu at the top. Click on the fourth option from the left, which should be "Image."

  2. Step 2

In the menu that pops up, the sixth option down should be "Resize..." Click on this to bring up the "Resize" window.

  3. Step 3

The first choice is between resizing by pixel, percentage, or actual/print size. Click any of the options and and adjust to the exact size you want.

  4. Step 4

With "Resize type:", it's best to try each one, and then pick the one that looks best. If you're short on time, the default of "Smart Size" does a good job most of the time.

  5. Step 5

If checked, the "Resize all layers" checkbox resizes everything in the image, while checking the "Maintain aspect ratio of:" checkbox keeps the image from becoming distorted.

  6. Step 6

Click "OK," and the image is resized. If you don't like the way it turned out, just click the "Undo" button, and start again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Resizing an image too much bigger than its original size may make the image look bad. If possible, resize down from a larger image.
