How to Make a Healthy Breakfast Shake

For a healthy start to your day, avoid those toaster pastries and opt for a quick and nutritious breakfast shake. This recipe makes one very generous shake and packs about 15 grams of protein.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 oz. milk
  • 2 scoops low-fat vanilla ice cream
  • 1 large bananas
  • 1 large eggs
  • 1/4 c. wheat germ
  • blenders

  • 2 ice cubes
  • Blenders

  • 2 scoops low-fat vanilla ice cream
  • 1 large bananas
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1/4 c. wheat germ
  • 5 oz. milk
  • 1 large eggs
  1. Step 1

    Put banana, low-fat ice cream, milk, egg, wheat germ and ice cubes in a blender.

  2. Step 2

    Cover and blend on Low until ingredients are mixed.

  3. Step 3

    Blend on High for 30 seconds or until the shake is smooth.

  4. Step 4

    Pour into a glass and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • If desired, omit the egg or add 1/2 c. fresh berries, peaches or another fruit.
  • Add 1 tbsp. brewer's yeast for extra protein.
  • Although the risk is relatively small, raw eggs can cause salmonella poisoning. Elderly people, pregnant women and small children are particularly vulnerable to salmonella.

on 11/22/2005 Omit the ice cream and add in 1/3 cup powdered milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, a dash of cinnamon and a packet of artificial sweetener if desired.
