Air leaks in your home can cause energy loss in your house, which results in higher energy bills for you. To lower your energy bills, you need to find the air leaks that are in your home. This is not always easy as many air leaks may be small and undetectable from just feeling them. Even by just sealing small air leaks in your home, you can see your energy bills decrease. Here is a sure way to find all the air leaks in your home and save money on your energy bills.

  • Incense stick
  • House
  1. Step 1

    Close all the windows in the house, turn off all the fans and shut off the furnace. You may want to turn off any appliances that may blow any air out such as the refrigerator.

  2. Step 2

    Light an incense stick and slowly walk around the outer walls of your house holding the incense stick up close to the walls.

  3. Step 3

    Look for any blowing smoke away from something or smoke being sucked toward something. This will indicate where an air leak is located in your house. Make sure that when walking around the walls you lower and raise the incense stick, especially around the outlets and windows.

  4. Step 4

    Seal any air leaks that you find and you can save money on your energy bills.
