How to Celebrate New Year's Eve With Small Children at Home

If you have young children at home, it might be impossible to have a night on the town to celebrate New Year's Eve. Fortunately, you can celebrate the arrival of the new year without leaving home. You can plan a New Year's Eve celebration that is kid-friendly, creating family-oriented festivities to cap off the holiday season and say farewell to the old year.

1. Decorate with your kids for New Year's Eve. Hang up colorful streamers and banners to celebrate the coming of the new year. If your kids are old enough for craft projects, let them create some of their own decorations to place around the house. Use your creative side to design some decorations of your own.

2. Plan the food for New Year' Eve. Create a menu of fun foods your little kids can eat. Consider primarily finger foods that are easy for your kids to snack on throughout the evening. Have an assortment of dessert and snack items on hand as well.

3. Watch your favorite family-friendly movies. Rent several movies you enjoy watching with the kids. Try out some of the new arrivals of child-appropriate movies. This would also be a good time to get out your collection of Disney movies. Spend the afternoon watching and enjoying with your little tots.

4. Gather party gear and accessories for the celebration. Your kids will love wearing party hats ands will be entertained by watching you sport your decorative headwear. Give everyone a couple of noisemakers to use throughout the evening.

5. Play games throughout the day. Get out some card games and board games. Use games everyone in the family can play. Games will provide more opportunity for laughter and fun with the entire family. If your children are too young to play the games you own, create your own silly games to play.
