Things You'll Need:
- Toaster Oven or Oven with Broiler
- Cookie Sheet
- White Bread
- Butter
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
-
Step 1
Place two to four slices of white bread on a cookie sheet or the small pan included with your toaster oven, depending on which appliance you are going to use. Wheat bread is healthier, but cinnamon toast is a comfort food. Use white bread.
-
Step 2
Butter each slice of bread. Use real butter. Margarine is one molecule away from being plastic, and butter taste better. Use enough butter to cover 90% of the surface of the bread.
-
Step 3
Sprinkle the buttered surface of each slice of bread with sugar. It will carmalize during the toasting phase. The best type of sugar I've found so far is evaporated cane sugar. It's a little grainier than regular refined sugar, but has a much better taste and texture.
-
Step 4
Sprinkle with cinnamon, to your liking. I sprinkle enough to get a marbled effect on the surface of the toast. My wife likes to completely cover her toast with cinnamon.
-
Step 5
Put pan under the broiler in your toaster or conventional oven, with the temperature set to the maximum. Keep an eye on the toast, removing it when the edges of the bread are a nice, medium brown color.
-
Step 6
Remove toast from broiler and serve immediately. Notice the nice crunch as you bite into the carmelized layer of sugar.
