In the middle of May 2005 US forces had occupied 106 military bases in Iraq and these bases ranged in sizes from Camp Victory Complex near the Baghdad Airport to small outpost with as few as 500 soldiers including US operations of four detention facilities and other convoy support centers resulting in more demands for man power in diverse disciplines ranging for computer science, engineering and other opportunities known and unknown. Here are a few avenues to go about finding a job in one of Iraq's military bases.

  • Ability to adjust personal style to different situations
  1. Step 1

    In an Iraqi military base one can work as a civilian contractor, one of the easiest ways to find jobs there is to go to globalsecurity.org. This website has lots and lots of recent job listings available in any field you want to work in Iraq.

  2. Step 2

    Another way is just what it is, working with the U.S. military Agencies. Which we can also find on the above website and possibly apply to serve in any way you can.

  3. Step 3

    The third option is working for military contractors like Lockheed, Boeing, Halliburton and many others who are based in the U.S. but have contractors working in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tips & Warnings
  • You need to have a U.S. Passport to travel
  • You need to be a U.S. citizen because this is considered a federal job.
  • You must be able to work in a hostile environment and able to adjust in any new situation.
  • You must have security clearance. This is a status granted to individuals allowing them access to "classified" or sensitive information.
