Step 1
Decide to give to make a difference. Many times we give to settle our guilty conscience. This year make the decision to give intentionally to make a difference in someone's life. This is really the first step in giving.

Step 2
Even a small amount can be used in a great way!!Determine your "giving budget." One simple way to determine what you would like to give is simply to take 10% of a paycheck and set that amount back to use for giving. For example if you earn $500 per paycheck set $50 aside for giving. 10% may not seem like a great deal of money but it truly is. A "small" amount can be used in a BIG way!

Step 3
Churches & religious institutions are a great place to donate during Christmas season.Decide how you are going to put that 10% into play. Here are some great ideas: (1) The Salvation Army--you have seen the men & women ringing the bells in front of the retail stores. Put a portion of that 10% in the bucket. (2) Local churches--most local church are involved in some type of Christmas outreach. Give a church a call. You may be able to donate to their ministry. (3) Local missions--most communities have "family-assistance" missions. Not only are they a great help to communities, many of them also know how and where money needs to be spread.

Step 4
Giving to a family member is a great option.Keep it in the family. Many times we want to give and look outside to discover ways to give. Often we can look at our own extended families to see those in need. Do you have a family in need in your own family? If so you can keep that 10% within your family and help them directly.
