Step 1
First things first, you have to choose a charity to donate your work to. Search for charities looking for crochet/knit donations. (I've added a list of sites below that have links to charities looking for handmade donations.) If you already have items made and would like to donate them then you'll need to find a charity that is looking for what you have. If you don't have things made then you can simply choose a charity looking for anything handmade and you can make it according to their specifications.
-
Step 2
Be sure to take note of any deadlines and specifications they have on the work. Many charities are looking for things in specific sizes, and some have certain patterns they would like you to use. Be sure to read everything before you send them anything.
-
Step 3
Make what you like (according to their needs and specifications) and have fun doing it. Many charity sites have free patterns that you can choose from if you like, or you can find patterns somewhere else.
-
Step 4
When you're done making as many items as you would like or can make, then it's time to send in your donations. Be sure to have the address on hand of where they would like you to send your donations. If the charity has a certian way they want you to pack it, then be sure that you've done that as well. Some places might even want you to wash it first!
-
Step 5
That's it. Take pride in what you've just done, and donate as often as you can!
-
Step 6
If you'd like you can always donate to a local charity or nonprofit organization by calling them and asking them if it's ok and what you can make for them. Many shelters need donations to help their cause in the form of blankets, hats, mittens, and more. Good Luck!
