ATVs are extremely useful pieces of machinery as they can be used for a variety of tasks and fulfill the uses of a tractor, truck, motorcycle, lawnmower, and so much more. As winter approaches, more and more ATVs will be used for one task: snow removal. Using your ATV to plow snow is really a relatively simple process. There are a few pieces of essential equipment, but after the initial investment you can actually begin making money from your ATV as you can offer to plow people's driveways and sidewalks for a small fee.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Source a snow blade for your specific ATV model and purchase the blade.

  2. Step 2

Using the included hardware, attach the blade to your ATV. If your ATV is not four-wheel drive, now is the time to buy tire chains and install them on all four tires.

  3. Step 3

Raise the blade a few inches above the snow level until you have reached your beginning point. Decide where you are going to push the snow and where you will be starting from. Lower the blade to just a fraction of an inch above the ground.

  4. Step 4

Slowly and steadily give the ATV the gas and push one pass of snow to the area where you will be piling the snow.

  5. Step 5

Return to your starting position with the blade overlapping by half into the area you just plowed and halfway into unplowed snow (this will catch any excess snow). Again, steadily push the snow to the pile.

  6. Step 6

Repeat steps 4-5 until the area is clear of snow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Work slowly and steadily to assure an even, ice free end product while plowing snow with you ATV.
  • Avoid plowing snow on extreme inclines, as adding the weight of a snow plow to your ATV could make it front heavy and cause a roll over.
