Having cleaning supplies always handy on a kitchen or bathroom sink encourages quick clean ups, but may not be pretty. White vinegar is popular to clean with because it is not toxic and is easy to clean with. Here’s a way to add some color to a plain white vinegar bottle.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose an attractive clear bottle. Investing in a glass vinegar dispenser can add beauty to a sink top. If the glass is too likely to break near the sink, an empty dish soap container, or a spray bottle works just as well. An empty liquid hand soap dispenser works as long as it is labeled clearly so no one uses it for hand soap.

  2. Step 2

Fill the container with white vinegar.

  3. Step 3

Add a drop or two of food coloring for every 16 ounces of vinegar. At Thanksgiving a drop of red and a drop of yellow food coloring will make the vinegar a nice orange. For Christmas the vinegar could have red or green food coloring. For other holidays, other colors may be more appropriate. Perhaps a drop of blue food coloring at Hanukkah would be pretty. A drop of red for Chinese New Year might be festive.

  4. Step 4

Wrap the container of colored vinegar with a ribbon or just use the colored vinegar alone to add holiday cheer to a sink top.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t forget to label the vinegar container so that no one is confused about its use.
  • Always test a small area of what will be cleaned with the colored vinegar to make sure the color doesn’t stain it.

on 12/1/2008 Cute idea, thanks! It's helpful b/c many household cleaning chemicals are way too harsh and toxic.
