This is a very good hot dog chili. We used to have a restaurant at home called Frank's Lunch. They sold Coney Dogs and this recipe is as close as I have ever found to those hot dogs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 2T Chili powder
  • 4 oz Catsup
  • 2t Worcheshire Sauce
  • 2 c Water
  1. Step 1
    Spray Pam

Lightly brown ground beef in a small amount of vegetable oil or Pam if you prefer. I use 93% ground beef to avoid the fat, so I also brown it with Pam instead of oil.

  2. Step 2
    Onion for hot dog sauce

Chop the onion. Pull aside the meat in the frying pan and add the onion. Cook till transparent. Add the salt and pepper to your taste.

  3. Step 3

Empty the frying pan into a blender and add 2 cups of water. Put on the blender lid. Place blender on chop and run very briefly.

  4. Step 4

Place the beef/onion mixture in a large saucepan and add the chili powder, catsup and Worcester sauce. Cook and stir until rather thick. Spoon over hot dogs and enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Hot dogs are great served with this chili, finely minced onions and yellow mustard.
  • This recipe freezes well in small meal size containers.
