Things You'll Need:
- Clean and dry hair
- A 'True' ceramic iron
- A thermal protectant for hair
-
Step 1
The 'cadillac' of irons..it presses & curls the hair...CHI iron by Farouk, don't forget the BiosilkAfter hair is shampooed, conditioned and dried, section out about 1/2" horizontally in the nape area. Clip the rest of the hair out of the way. By using small sections, the hair will get much straighter than grabbing a wad of hair and having to go over the same sections more than once. The straighter the hair, the more satisfied you or your client will be which equals a re-book or a repeat service in the future. Also, word of mouth advertising for you! That's a great way to build your clientele and keep your clients satisfied.
-
Step 2
Mist the hair with the thermal protectant then hold the hair out at 90 degrees from where it grows and slowly smooth it with your ceramic iron. Complete this section then repeat with another section until you've completed the entire head. Remember to hold the hair straight out, this way you will be able to get the roots or new growth also.
-
Step 3
If you're working on African American hair, apply a light hairdress product to the hair before starting such as Avlon/KeraKare Dry and Itchy Scalp hairdress the proceed with the pressing service. If you use a hairdress, there is no need to use the thermal protectant spray. Too much product will weigh the hair down and it won't look like it's fresh.
