Things You'll Need:
- clear elastic stretchy cord
- beads
-
Step 1
Take a look in your closet and decide which outfits need complimentary bracelets. Write down the colors that you'd like to use on a list.
-
Step 2
Go to a craft store, such as Michaels, or a bead store. Select beads based on the list you made earlier. Remember, if the beads don't compliment your clothing, chances are you won't wear a bracelet made from them. Try to vary the size of beads you choose. When choosing gold or silver beads, think about whether or not they will go with any rings you regularly wear.
-
Step 3
Set up a work area in your house. The kitchen table works great for this project, because you can make one of these stretchy bracelets in less than ten minutes!
-
Step 4
Measure your wrist. This is the amount of stretchy cord that you will string beads on. Remember to leave extra cord in order to tie off your bracelet, though! A good way to see the amount of cord you will need once you have measured for your stretch bracelet is to take a black marker and mark that portion of the cord.
-
Step 5
Begin stringing your beads. If you are making a pattern, make sure the pattern will continue once the bracelet has been fastened. For example, if you are stringing red, blue, red, blue, and your first bead is red, then your last bead should be blue so that you don't end up with two reds together, unless that is your intention.
-
Step 6
Once you reach the end of the part of the stretchy cord you are beading, grab the two ends of cord, wrap them around your finger and tie them by running the two ends through the loop. Do this twice and cut off the ends. Make sure you do not pull the stretchy cord so tight that it will be stretched all of the time. Do not leave any slack, either.
-
Step 7
Enjoy your new bracelet! These make great gifts for friends as well, and you may find that you want to make matching earrings or even necklaces.
