How to Make a Jesus Feeds the 5,000 Bible Craft

This edible activity will be a special treat for the children while emphasizing one of Jesus' miracles to them. Be sure to hold up the square cookies and let the children know they will be the "bread" for today. Also show them two Goldfish crackers and remind the children that Jesus started with only two fish to feed 5,000 people.

Things You'll Need

• Goldfish crackers (two for each child)
• Plain sugar cookies baked as square shapes (one for each child)
• White icing
• Plastic spoons (one for each child)
• Small paper plates (one for each child)

1. Give each child a paper plate with a square cookie on it. Next, give each child two Goldfish crackers.

2. Give each child a spoon with some icing on it. Let them spread the icing onto the square cookie.

3. Now have the children put their two Goldfish crackers on top of the cookie. Make sure there is enough icing to hold the Goldfish in place.

4. Let the children eat the cookie while you remind them that the 5,000 people only had five loaves of bread and two fish but Jesus made enough for everyone to eat a lot. You might even mention that were 12 baskets leftover so the disciples had more to eat later on.

Tips & Warnings

• Dip the plastic spoons into the icing and then hand a spoon to each child. Then throw away the spoons when they are done for easy clean-up.

• Make sure to ask parents if the children have any food allergies or diabetic needs. You can substitute sugar-free whipped cream for the icing if someone has sugar issues.
