How to Make a David and Goliath Bible Craft
This project shows the children the size difference between David and Goliath while allowing them to be creative in making their own "David" and "Goliath." Preschool children love things they can touch and use to pretend. They can even re-tell the story using this craft as their props.
Things You'll Need
- Empty paper towel tubes (one for each child)
- Empty toilet paper tubes (one for each child)
- Large plastic eyes (a pair for each child)
- Small plastic eyes (a pair for each child)
- Any color pipe cleaner (one for each child)
- Crayons
- Glue sticks (one for each child)
Instructions
-
-
1
Give each child a paper towel tube and a toilet paper tube. Tell the children that the paper towel tube is Goliath and the toilet paper tube is David.
-
2
Let the children glue the large eyes onto the large tube and the small eyes onto the small tube. Make sure they use enough glue to hold the eyes in place. If a glue stick is not doing the job, you may have to resort to white glue. It helps to hold the eyes in place for at least 10 seconds before removing your fingers.

3
Let the children draw a face onto the tubes and color "clothes" on them if they wish. You can print out pictures of David and Goliath for the children to see what they might have been wearing in Bible times.
-
4
Have the children stick a pipe cleaner through the holes in each tube. Now help them bend the pipe cleaners downward on each side to look like arms.

Tips & Warnings
Before class, cut a small hole on each side of the tubes about half-way down each tube, in preparation for the pipe cleaner "arms."

This makes a great visual for children to realize the size difference of David and Goliath. Good article.
