- Notebook

Step 1
Make sure you have a good notebook and a pen that is comfortable and writes smoothly.

Make sure you are comfortable. You don't want to get distracted from discomfort.

When listening to a speaker, lecturer, teacher, don't get distracted. Listen intently.

Write down things that are unfamiliar to you. If you don't write it down you'll forget.

Write down key dates, names, places, eras.

Step 6
Write down theories. Write down pros and cons.

Step 7
Don't try to write everything down. You can't do it. (Unless you know shorthand.) So make sure you are writing things that you don't know already.

Be careful not to use too many abbreviations. You might forget what they mean.
