How would you like to change over your old shower head for a brand new one? You will be able to do it yourself after following these easy to follow steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • new shower head
  • wrench
  • thread tape
  1. Step 1

Go to Home Depot or a similar hardware store in your community. Choose the new shower head you would like to purchase. They will range in price from $20 to $150. You may also choose between such options as a water massager to a hand held shower head.

  2. Step 2

Turn off the water supply to your house or to just your shower. Make sure to follow this direction.

  3. Step 3

Unscrew the old shower head from the existing shower arm. Be careful, you may have to use some muscle pressure to unscrew the old shower head off. Watch not to use too much strength either, though.

  4. Step 4

Screw on the new shower head on to the existing shower arm. Make sure that your new shower head is screwed on tightly. Also, make sure that your new shower head is well adjusted to your liking.

  • There is no work to do behind the wall.

  • Turn on the shower handles to let existing water sitting in the pipes drain out. This avoids having extra leakage while you are working.
  • Watch for lime build up that affects water flow.
  • Older shower heads may not be up to current low flow guidelines.
  • Turn off the water supply to the house, or just to the shower, before changing over your shower head
  • Be careful whenever working with copper pipe, which is somewhat flexible and soft.
