Laptops need care just like other valuables. You don't need to buy expensive commercial cleaning agents. Even everyday household products can do the job. Learn how to clean a laptop with ordinary ingredients. Here's How to Clean a Laptop

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Laptop
  • water with isopropyl alcohol or vinegar
  • spraying bottle
  • cloth
  1. Step 1

    I don't do this all the time, but it's a good idea to turn off the laptop and remove battery or unplug before cleaning.

  2. Step 2

    Take a 50/50 solution of water with isopropyl alcohol or vinegar. Make sure it is clean distilled or purified water. Other cheap cleaning agents are: lint-free lens wipes, disc cleaner, lens cleaner for eyeglasses that contain isopropanol. Avoid products with amonia.

  3. Step 3

    Pour the mix into a spraying bottle called an atomizer.

  4. Step 4

    Next, spray the solution into a large, soft piece of cloth.

    Wipe the laptop screen with the cloth. Use quick, regular strokes. Avoid heavy pressure with your fingers. Fold the cloth to keep your hands from leaving streaks on the monitor.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you put too much solution on the screen, wipe gently with another clean cloth.
  • If unsure how to clean a laptop, start with a tiny corner of the screen first.
  • Take care not to get the alcohol solution in your eyes or mouth. Do not drink the solution.
  • Do not use paper towels. The fiber can damage the laptop screen.
  • Do not use tap water. Minerals can stain the screen.
  • Avoid high-concentrate (90%) alcohol.
  • Do not use old cloths, as the dirt in them may stain the laptop.
  • Avoid rubbing alcohol.
