Coming soon to a state near you. Alabama is scheduled to start getting their citizens cell phones. A cell phone company is helping low-income residents get cell phones for FREE. Those that qualify will be given 68 minutes. The cell phone company is doing this to ensure that they are able to use them in case of an emergency. This is a program that has already been launched in Tennessee with a lot of success. Look below to see if you qualify.

Instructions

1. Who is eligable? Those whose income is not above 135 percent of the federal poverty level and if they receive assistance through government programs such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income. If you are unsure what your income level is just contact the company to confirm it.

2. What is it for? For those who are lower income and may need the phones in an emergency. They are also hoping that it will help with job hunting.

3. You must have a valid United States Postal Address. In order for your free phone to be shipped to you; you must live at a residence that can receive mail from the US Post Office. Sorry, but P.O. Boxes cannot be accepted.

4. No one in your household can currently receives Lifeline Service through another phone carrier.
