The best part about these flowers is they will not wilt and can be used again and again.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8-inch square sheet of Valentine's Day scrapbook paper Silk flower stem with leaves Hot glue gun
  1. Step 1

Fold one long side of the 8-inch square sheet of paper, even with an opposite long side. Crease the fold. Unfold the sheet flat, and repeat the fold for the opposite two sides. Crease the folds, and unfold.

  2. Step 2

Match one long edge with the middle crease. Crease the new fold. Unfold the sheet flat. Repeat this for the other three sides. You will end up with 16 total square creases.

  3. Step 3

Fold one corner of the 8-inch square of paper even with the opposite corner. Crease the fold. Move the corner down to the bottom corner of the first creased square. Crease the fold. Move the corner down to the center point of the sheet. Crease the fold. Move the corner down to the bottom corner of the third creased square on the diagonal. Crease the fold. Open the sheet flat.

  4. Step 4

Turn the sheet completely around, and fold the other half as in Step 3.

  5. Step 5

Turn the sheet. Fold the opposite corners by repeating Steps 3 and 4. Each square will have a creased "X" though it.

  6. Step 6

Turn the sheet over and repeat Steps 1 through 5, so that the creases will flex both ways.

  7. Step 7

Lay the sheet face down. Fold all four corners to the center. Turn the folded sheet over.

  8. Step 8

Fold the center point only, of one side, to the center of the square. Repeat the fold to the center of the other three sides. You will end with a standing triangle on each corner.

  9. Step 9

Separate each triangle and press down, creating a folded square in each corner.

  10. Step 10

Turn the folded flower over and hold it in your hand. For the bottom of the flower, bring the center of each side together. This will open the folded triangle squares in the corners on the other side.

  11. Step 11

Place a dot of hot glue into the point on the bottom of the flower. Insert the flower stem into the glue. Hold the points together until the glue has cooled.

  12. Step 12

Curl the outer points of each triangle square using your fingers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Any size square of paper will work, giving you various sized flowers. When making your first Valentine's Day origami flower, have a friend read you the instructions one step at a time. This will eliminate you losing your place and forgetting a step.
