  1. Step 1

Obtain a website builder software package. These simple programs can be purchased at any computer software store or downloaded from the Internet. Basic Web building software is easy to use. For people who have no experience at building Web pages it is wise to look for programs that offer technical support. Larger companies like GoDaddy and Adobe offer excellent support. There is also free website building software available on the Internet; however these are very basic and limited in terms of support and application.

  2. Step 2

Create an idea for the Web page. Decide on the purpose. The purpose of a Web page in only limited by the imagination of the creator. Decide on the function of the Web page. They can be static, meaning other people can only read and look at the content or they can be interactive meaning others can add their own content to the Web page.

  3. Step 3

Design the Web page on paper first. Sketch out the design of the Web page with a pencil and paper using the template format chosen from the program. Decide where all the elements will be placed on the page. The different elements will include text, pictures and graphics, and possibly videos or blogs. When designing the Web page always keep in mind the Web page will contain a large amount of information and will need to be well organized to make sense to the reader. Share your design with others for their input and help.

  4. Step 4

Write text for the Web page. Web pages are viewed by the public and are a reflection of the creator. Take care to write the text correctly with no misspelled words or grammatical errors. It is helpful to always write the text with a word program such as Microsoft Word first. Use the "spell and grammar" check to fix all mistakes. Do not rely totally on the word program to fix all mistakes. Proofread the text several times and have someone else proofread it as well. When the text is complete, copy and paste into the Web builder program template.

  5. Step 5

Choose and add pictures and other elements to the Web page. Adding pictures to a Web page template is usually a simple process, however some considerations must be taken. Use only pictures and graphics that do not infringe on any copyright. Permission must be obtained from the owner before the picture can be used. Use high resolution pictures that will appear sharp and clear on the Web page. Keep the pictures small in terms of file size. This will allow the Web page to load faster when published. Upload the pictures into the Web builder template.

  6. Step 6

Publish the Web page on the Internet. Before a Web page can be published on the Internet where others can see it must have a domain name and a host. The domain name will be the Web address used to find the Web page. The host will be the Web server where the page will stay. Domain names and hosts can be found and purchased at GoDaddy and other Internet hosting companies. Procure the domain name and publish the Web page.
