With the costs of airline tickets going sky-high (pun intended), it's vital that we try to find dirt cheap airline tickets to satisfy our shrinking budgets. Follow these steps to get dirt cheap airline tickets for you and your traveling party.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have a travel agent, let them do all of the work for you. They have access to a database of almost all flights that you could possibly take, so leverage your time and have them do the work to find those dirt cheap airline tickets for you. If you don't have a travel agent, that's ok. Move on to step two.

  2. Step 2

Plan your trip early and book your airline tickets ASAP. The more time you give yourself, the cheaper your airline tickets will be. Sometimes, the difference can be up to hundreds of dollars.

  3. Step 3

The best way to get discounted, dirt cheap airline tickets is to visit every possible airline website that you would want to travel on, and sign up for their promotional discounts. They give out promotions daily to various locations around the country. Some airlines, such as Southwest Airlines, will put a little icon on your toolbar at the bottom of your screen and alert you every time a new deal is happening. Jump on those and you'll give yourself the best chance to get in early and save tons of money.

  4. Step 4

Search for flights with notoriously discounted airlines, such as JetBlue or Southwest Airlines. They only go to a few select airports, but the savings are tremendous.

  5. Step 5

Visit the resource at the bottom of this page to find even more deals on specific airlines that may be traveling for your destination.

Tips & Warnings
  • In addition to your dirt cheap airline tickets, also think about baggage and where you'll be sitting in the plane. Unfortunately, some airlines are charging for bringing extra baggage and sitting in the window and aisle seats, so do your research on specific airlines before booking, or else you might be charged with hidden fees.
