Do you like tuna but are tired of making the same old tuna fish sandwich all the time? Have you ever tried tuna fish in a hot casserole that is not a noodle recipe? I have a great recipe that is easy to make and can stretch out your meal dollars in a pinch. Try these simple steps and you will be able to make a dish that is filling and great tasting at the same time!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 can of store brand tuna fish
  • 1 can of store brand mushroom soup
  • Milk
  • 1 large bag of potato chips
  • Oven set at 400F degrees
  • Glass casserole dish
  • One container of sliced mushrooms
  • Glass casserole dish
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven at 400F degrees. There is no temperature difference for high altitude differences. I have made this dish all over the world in my travels abroad and it comes out the same, the only thing you might change is the time that it is cooking in the oven. Instead of being a half hour it might be a little more or a little less time to achieve a golden brown crust.

  2. Step 2

Drain tuna fish can, wash mushrooms clean, crush all potato chips into small pieces in bag.

  3. Step 3

Using a glass casserole dish, mix all of the items in dish to a dry mix consistency.

  4. Step 4

Add condensed mushroom soup with a can of milk into the mixture. Stir until all of the pieces are covered with the soup. The mixture will be a little dry, if it is, add milk to the mixture until it is a soft pliable mixture. I do this by eye now because I have made this so much but for the first time, try 1 cup of milk added to the mix each time then mix to see how the consistency is.

  5. Step 5

Bake in the oven for half hour until the top of the casserole is golden brown. All of the items are bubbling and well cooked.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have that much milk you can use water instead for part of the recipe. The only difference is that the casserole will be not as rich in taste.
  • You can also use powdered milk as well.

on 12/10/2008 I would love to see how the plain soy milk works out because I tried this but it just tasted weird? Maybe it was the brand on soy milk? I tried the rice milk and it worked REALLY well. For the potato chips don't what ever you do use Pringles because they turn into a brick of glue!

on 11/27/2008 My mom made a dish very similiar to this one when I was growing up, except we always crushed the potato chips and put them on top. Kids love this recipe!

on 11/27/2008 I'm going to have to give this a try! I love tuna noodle casserole, but this will make a nice change up. I'll have to use plain soy milk instead of dairy, but that should work just fine. Oh, and low salt potato chips, too. I'll let you know how it goes!
