People who gamble excessively, don't see it as a problem. They take it as one of their hobbies. To address the problem, the person has to acknowledge that there is a gambling problem. It is not an easy task to convince someone that they are a gambler. Most times when gambling gets out of hand, the savings are usually tapped into to feed the habit. If the person is in denial, you may show them the bank statements to prove that there is a real issue with their excessive gambling.

I've seen people stay up all night playing their favorite slot machine. I know because I passed them on my way to my room at night and they were still there when I came down to go to breakfast the next day. It's not pleasant to see someone sitting there unkempt and bug eyed waiting to hit the big one. They make just enough hits to keep them going...they feel tied to the machine or table.
