This lovely apple cinnamon cake is great for the winter months.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cake:
  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon schnapps
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • Glaze:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon schnapps
  1. Step 1

    Mix the apples, cinnamon and cinnamon schnapps together.

  2. Step 2

    In another bowl cream together the butter
    and sugar until fluffy.

  3. Step 3

    Add eggs to the butter and sugar and beat for 2 minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sour cream to the eggs sugar and butter. Mix well.

  5. Step 5

    Drain the excess liquid from the apples. Add apples and nuts to the batter.

  6. Step 6

    Pour into a greased bunt pan and bake for one hour at 350 degrees. Cool completely before adding glaze.

  7. Step 7

    Bring the butter, sugar and water to a boil for 2 to 3 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved.

  8. Step 8

    Remove from heat and stir in the cinnamon schnapps.

  9. Step 9

    Pour over the cake. Can be garnished with chopped nuts. Let cool before serving to allow the glaze to set up.
